Yixing Haikang Tea Planting Professional Cooperative is an enterprise specializing in the matcha industry, integrating tea planting, R&D, production and sales services. Founded in 2009.
Starting with tea planting and the production of high-quality premium tea and tea bags, the cooperative developed in line with the rise of matcha in China in 2015, and emerged alongside the domestic promotion of Shubei Cultivar (the raw material for high-end matcha) jointly with Ito Corporation of Japan. There are two main production bases for Shubei Cultivar in China: one is located in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, and the other in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, both contracted by our cooperative.
The cooperative owns over 1M m2 of Shubei Cultivar tea trees in Yixing, with an annual output of more than 200 tons of high-grade tencha (the unground precursor of matcha). The fresh tencha leaf processing facilities at our Yixing production base have obtained Green Food Certification and National Organic Certification, and the cooperative is certified under the ISO22000-2018 Food Safety Management System.
It is one of the few enterprises in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai region equipped with 50 ball mills. During production, every leaf for matcha is ground at a low temperature for more than 24 hours, and the temperature in the production workshop is strictly controlled within 8°C.
At present, export business accounts for 60% of the cooperative’s total revenue, mainly targeting Southeast Asian markets. Domestic business focuses on baking factories, beverage channels and matcha-focused enterprises, including Three Squirrels, Louwailou, Freshippo, AKOKO, Novan Chocolate, 7fen Sweet, Youjian Xiancha, Yake Yasi, Taiwan Ruili, Uji and FamilyMart.
